It’s hard to beat Switzerland for its beautiful Alpine scenery and quaint villages oozing storybook charm. The soaring snowcapped peaks of the Alps – remembering those Tomblerons you garble, glittering blue lakes, emerald valleys, glaciers, and picturesque lakeside hamlets infuse this picturesque scenery as fairytale-like magnificence.

There are world-class international resorts behind the cliffs, valleys, and lakes. Activities including hiking, biking, climbing, paragliding, skiing, and tobogganing are the best experiences in this region.

Travelers come here for a jaw-dropping panorama but are intrigued by the many cultural appeals. Zurich, Geneva, and Lausanne are soaked in history and offer excellent showrooms and galleries, historic buildings, and renowned music festivals. 

I have explored Switzerland and was awed by the beauty it brought. There are numerous attractions in Switzerland that is unforgettable. Some of the must-do include Rhine Falls, the largest breathtaking waterfall in Europe, and Bernese Oberland in Mount Schilthorn.

• • Basel 

Famous for its museum, including the Kunstmuseum Basel, the oldest public art collection globally is found and the most important museum in Switzerland. 

Basel is also a great place to visit for art enthusiasts. There is art everywhere you go, and you can hope into almost 40 museums and several galleries in the city.

• • Bern

The capital Bern is a stunning medieval old town embracing the crook of a river. 

Bern is your gateway to the great Alps as a UNESCO world heritage site. There are so many things to do in Bern. Experience exotic meals and game arrangements in a high-end atmosphere at Grand Casino Bern. 

You can also take a walk and appreciate the Bern Botanical Garden, where you can enjoy an extensive selection of alpine plants and plants from Asia and North America.

You should never miss out on the Bern Minster – Switzerland’s highest Church. As the dominant structure in Bern’s Old Town, awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1983, the Cathedral plays a pivotal role in the city’s architecture.

• • Geneva

The sweetest part of my journey was the visit to Geneva. Try Choco Pass – enjoy local chocolate makers and taste their most delicious specialty! You can activate your choco pass when you enter the first chocolate shop from the list. You can pass a Choco pass with a paid Geneva City Pass or at the Tourist Information Center.

The Geneva City pass will also help you access more than 50 attractions in Geneva City and visit museums and Cathedral at your own pace.

• • Interlacken and Lauterbrunnen

Feel the vibe of the sound of music while exploring Lauterbrunnen Village. When you talk about waterfalls, massive cliffs, and lush greens, that’s precisely how this village looks.

If you intend to visit these places, prepare your hiking boots. Trails, including the award-winning Panoramaweg (Panorama Trail), take you onto the hillsides past chalets and farms, where the views are just as impressive. 

At 2960 meters above sea level, the Schilthorn is the highest mountain in the region, but it is well worth a visit. You can take the cable car and enjoy numerous James Bond-themed activities in Schilthorn. At Bond World, 007 visitors can watch scenes from the movie and participate in many interactive exhibitions, including being filmed ‘riding’ a bobsled down a mountain and ‘flying’ a helicopter.

• • Zermatt

Zermatt is the most popular tourist destination in Switzerland. It is famous for exploring the picturesque alpine world of the Swiss Alps. The Gornergrat, at 3,089 meters above sea level, provides spectacular views. The Gornergrat is surrounded by 29 four-thousand meter peaks, including the highest Swiss mountain, the Dufourspitze, which has an altitude of 4,634 meters, and the third-largest glacier in the Alps, the Gorner glacier.

Zermatt is a starting point for hikes into the mountains, including the Haute Route that leads to Chamonix in France and the Patrouille des Glaciers. Cable cars and chair lifts carry skiers in the winter and hikers in the summer; the highest leads to the Klein Matterhorn at 3,883 m (12,740 ft), a peak on the ridge between Breithorn and Matterhorn that offers extensive views in all directions.

• • Lucerne
